Concept 92 #2

If there was a meeting between two people in the cemetery clearly the film would be an action/ adventure.  The main focus would be on a guy who does shady business at cemetery's, but no one ever discovers why he sets up the meetings in a cemetery and that is the magiver of the story. Federal agents try to discover who this dealer is and why he comes back to this cemetery.

Concept 91 #2

If I could trade my family Member, I would be very tempted to but I would not ever trade any of my family members. I love them just the way they are. If I could make a film about my family having some alterations, it would be about how my sister left for college. The main focus would be about two sisters that love each other so much, but do to college entrance they are separated and have to work around the long distance. They eventually learn to find time for each other and even though they are apart they grow even closer.

Concept 90 #3

The musical screen play about my high school would be called The Pool of Diversity. The primary characters would be a group of really close friends from different backgrounds. The scenes would take place in the cafeteria, in each individuals household, and in classroom settings. The plot would be based on a group of friends from diverse background who learn to set aside their differences to create a very close friendship. The musical will show how each race feels and the emotion behind the friendship.

Concept 89 #2

If I was asked to do an animated sequel on Jack Sparrow to Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, I would characterize Jack as a rebellious complex character. He would be dynamic and round and he would grow as a character as time progresses. Jack would first be an antihero, who has the least bits of hero characteristics. He would steal from people and do the worst thing ever imaginable steal the Black Pearl. We would have some sort of sympathy for Jack because he would have a krypton of love towards another character. Animation would be used to show Jacks negative side as he steals some money and gets others killed in an explosion. Animation would also be used when he is on the voyage for the Black Pearl and each obstacle he faces will include intense animation. The animation would add to the dramatic characterization of Jack Sparrow, something that a normal film would be able to do.

Concept 88 #2

The first four guests would be Angelina Joleine, Leanardo DeCaprio, Kate Bekensile, Scarlet Johnson. These actors would add fun to the show and some will also bring some intellectual conversations to the mix. The would talk about politics, the film industry and personal lives to guarantee a perfect setting.

Concept 87 #3

I would be a pirate because I like eye patches and I love sailing. Although I disagree with all the booze, I would have an amazing adventure on the sea discovering new thinks and exploring the land.

Concept 86 #1

The most thrilling or suspenseful movie I have ever see is Inception and Avatar. In Inception the writer had different linking symbols and ideas that kept us guessing while Avatar gave hints to the viewer through dialogue and vivid imagery to keep the viewer guessing about the outcome of the story.

Concept 85 #3

The most romantic actor of all time is Leanardo DeCaprio. The most romantic actress is Jennifer Lopez. If thy did a movie together the story line would be about a girl who loves sailing falling in love with a famous actor on accident. Jennifer would be the carefree girl who is living on the see while Leanardo is a businessman with a lot of money.

Concept 84 #3

The scariest movie I ever saw was a movie called Halloween. I really didn't like the fact that the murderer came from unexpected places and took the lives of the actors in places where they are alone. I personally used to fear being alone in the dark, but I now have a revelation that I am not alone and even when I walk through the valley or the shadow of death I will not fear for my personal savior Jesus Christ is with me.

Concept 83 #3

If my character was given a chance to go back in time it would definitely be harder for her to live with out modern conveniences because she is a material girl who likes shopping and indulging in fancy living. She doesn't even like the traditional culture that she has now if she was to go back in time she would definitely have an impossible time adjusting to life.

Concept 82 #3

1. How did you become an Actor ?
2. Where is your inspiration ?
3. Who is your role model ?
4. Why do play in westerns ?
5. What makes you such an amazing Western Actor ?
6. What do you do to prepare ?
7. How do you advertise your self ?
8. Explain how you balance family life.
9. What movie do you want to do next?
10. Do you ever want to do another genera ?

I will use his answers to make a great western by getting the perspective of the actor and viewing things from his point of view to explore all aspects of the screen making process. Also to find what characters make the best Western Actor.

Concept 82 #1

1. E.T.
2. Star Wars
3. The Terminator

Italian Neorealism and Independent Cinema

I think that in Brick the characters are more complex and ambiguous. Do the right thing relied heavily on dialogue between the characters than Hollywood film. Brick talks of drugs and violence and similarly Do the Right Thing covers violence and hatred and these issues are not usually covered in mainstream media.

Italian Neorealism- Screenwriters's their greatest single influence was the anti-fascism that marked WWII'S immediate postwar period
-Some key elements are an emphasis on real lives, and entirely or largely non-professional cast. and a focus on collectivity rather than the individual.
-Neorealism pushed filmakers out of the studio and on to the streets, the camera emphasis was away from fantasy and toward reality.

-Italian realism inspired american independent cinema by pushed ideas of emphasis on reality and addressing issues that normally aren't covered my mainstream media.

Concept 80 #3

We are at a wedding and something dramatic and unexpected is about to go wrong which will impact the lives of everyone in attendance. An ex-boyfriend of the bride brings a weapon to the wedding and holds everyone hostage. It brings out the best in the husband because he protects his wife with his life and it brings out the worst in certain family members that offer the criminal the bride in exchange for their life.  At the end the police finally come and the betrayals are embraced and the wedding continues and the wife couldn't be more sure of who she chose to marry.

Concept 77 #2

If I was writing a story in an earlier time period in order o keep the overall budget low and attractive to a producer with limited funds is by making the actors provide their own coutumes of their parents's old cloth or a vintage cloth they have. I would also set the movie in an older neighborhood so that the set design would be that neighborhood. I would do everything in my ability to use the resources I already have instead of spending money.

Concept 76 #3

The Princess Bride is in the adventure, comedy and family genere. Adventure films use their action scenes preferably to display and explore exotic locations in an energetic way. Comedy films are stories in which characters focus on humor. Family movies are warm and very sensored and convey an overall message of good.

Concept 75 #3

My favorite teen oriented movie is The Secret Life of an American Teenager. This programs implies that the mindset towards teens is that they all have some kind of secret in which the outside world is blinded to. Whether it be a pregnancy or a secret affair teens have a secret world of their own in which they face harsh dilemas and problems every day. The world doesn't really realize the effect of these problems on the teens life and this movie does a good job of trying to reveil some secrets and how they affect teens. The underlying message of this teen genere is that teens face various problems which are not really talked about in society which is clearly seen in this movie by showing kids deal with pregnancy, divorce, marriage and alcoholism.

Do the right thing

Well this movie was set in a predominately African American community involving other races and interacting within each other. This movie clearly shows the effect of a violent and aggressive community that constantly feeds on hate. The unique lighting and setting in hot environment adds to the vial behavior of the community highlighting the unneeded yet constant hate. I think the main case of the violence seen in this film was the hate based community that looks to prosper themselves instead of working together.

Concept 74 #1

I enjoy films that make me laugh ans think because those are the thing I constantly want o be doing thinking and laughing. I love expanding my intellect and I love having a good time and enjoying my self with a nice comedy.

Concept 73 #1

My favorite film hero is Spider Man, and my favorite villain is the Godfather. The plot of them together would be about a spiderman that is constantly having to save people from the Godfather who kill relentlessly because he is always looking for more money. The victor would definitely be the hero Spiderman because of his unmatchable skills with the spider webs.

Concept 71 #1

My favorite story figure is Jane Adams because of her social efforts that influenced future social programs for the homeless. If I was going to write a movie about Jane to immiediatly hook the audience I would start the movie within a busy homeless drive where Jane is shown as being really busy but handling everything at the same time.

Concept 70 #3

The point of view that will prevail in my film is from the point of view of the Indian Girl who is forced into an arranged relationship destined for marriage. This character will best direct the story because she know best the feeling and emotions of being involved in arranged marriage taking us deeper into the story through a first hand view in a life of a bride. If told form a different perspective this story would carry as much sympathy with the readers because it would be subjective rather than in depth. Told from the opposition this story would be very documentary like., and told from a minor character it would have as much power in the story.

Concept 69 #3

I would use resources such as websites that accurately portrait the different slags in order to insure that the expressions are in current use. I would also maybe visit a neighbor hood or a go to a place where they recently use that slang.

Review Characterization

Row 1-Concept 16-Relatable characters give a story an audience
Row 2-Concept 17-Relatable characters come from everywhere-use the people you've met. Take aspects from each person.
Row 3-Concept 35-When losing is not an option- obstacles are good, but they have to figure it out eventually
Row 4- Concept 38-Character enhance the conflict- Conflict fueled by traits. Foil
Row 5- Concept 39-Characters change because of conflict.
Row 6- Concept 40-Way a character surpasses a challenge is more interesting than the challenge itself. Hero's Journey.

Concept 35 Summary

When Defining the stakes for characters in your script they must achieve their goal because the consequences of losing it are much too high. Movie villains traditionally start out with the advantage. Hero's in contrast have neither the mindset of an aggressor not the power base to launch an offensive. Hero's have external battles in which they have to defend themselves and engage in high risks in order to win. One man with courage makes a majority.

Do have a problem with is?

African American Movies

African American's are represented as gospel loving family oriented race with a lot of violence involved in the young men's lives. Their role has evolved from the past because now we see African American's in suits and in a sophisticated environment where as before they were always the broke bad guys.

Identify Suspense Techniques in Script for Rear Window

Define the terms first:

Dialogue Means Nothing- Use facial expressions, have one character not listening to other dialogue can be a lie (Jeff sounds like he has nothing planned as Throvald walks in the room and converses with him and advances towards him but actually he had a light bulb in his hand ready to use)

Keep the Story Simple- linear and streamlined, story simple but characters complex

Characters Must Break Cliche- characters must be unique and do the unexpected, lisa breaks into the apartment, Thorvald respectable murderer

Use Humor to Add Tension- characters in ironic situations (In the last scene when Stella says I don't want any part of her it adds humor to the story)

Two Things Happening at Once- distract audience, when Thorvald was hiding the knife, when Thorvald was coming to the house and Miss lonely heart trying to kill herself (In the last scene as Thorvald is strangling Jeff , LIsa, Stella and the detectives are entering Thorvald's apartment)

Suspense is Information- dog kept going back to the dirt

Surprise and Twist- the son is the mom, Rear window has moments where Thorvald looks innocent, (When Thorvald pushes him out of the window)

Warning May Cause MacGuffin- the driving symbol that pushes the story forward, the thing that everybody wants, Phycho-40,000 bucks

Characters Must Break Cliche

It is important that the characters be unique and have unexpected characteristics because it gives a realistic approach to the audience. For example the criminal should be the rich man, the weird women should be the most beloved, and the quite unsuspected character should be the evil character. There should be twist in the character's characteristics because it keeps the story going and also creates many obstacles for the character pushing the story forward.

Hitchcock's Techniques for Suspense

Some techniques mentioned that are used in Rear Window is Point of View Editing and this is shown when the main character Jimmy gives two smiles one form looking at a Dog and another from watching a women undress. Also the technique where dialogue mean nothing is used when Jimmy is paying attention to looking out the window instead of listening to the nurse. Fram of emotion is used to show Jimmy's girlfriends disappointment that Jimmy won't live with her or chose a safe profession.

Concept 65 #1

1. Aye where are my Tacos!
2. Give me tacos!
3. This isn't fair!
4. It is because I'm black!
5. Stop being racist!
6. I am hungry!
7. What are you doing!
8. Hurry up!

Concept 64 #1

-A walk to remember- The girl makes a speech during a play that they put on at school and it is significant in the plot because right after the guy ends up falling in love with her.
-Romeo and Juliet- Romeo makes big speech proclaiming his love for Juliet and being the driving force of the romantic movie.
-Noah's Ark- Noah makes a speech trying to convince the people that a big flood is going to happen and the speech is significant because the whole movie he is trying to keep the faith of his destiny and his speech signifies him proclaiming his faith.

Concept 63 #1

My favorite music video is the Beautiful, Beautiful song by Francesca. When I watch this video with out the sound the imagery still conveys the message of praising God for all that he is. Francesca is kneeling down on the floor praying and singing her heart out to God and even with out the sound you can still capture the atmosphere of worship. The atmosphere is similar to the message of the song which is to praise God for all he created and all that he is.

Twilight Zone

In twilight zone the build of suspense came from the darkened rooms and the inability of the viewers to recognize any of the characters in the film. Also the dialogue and the desire of the hospitalized women to have her face revealed. We are very curious about what the women looks like, what will happen to her, and where is she going to go. The writers created a sense of suspense by not revealing the women's face and by letting us know little and empathizing that what we don't know is very important to the story line.

Concept 62 #1

If Rosa Parks was to have flashback telling of scenes of her refusing to give up her seats, I would use techniques such as black and white. In order to create a sense of the older time period I would use a rouged yellowish and darker tone for the flashback. I would also focus the camera on certain objects that reflect the time period.

Concept 61 #1

Shrek 2
Ella Enchanted
Cinderella

This technique was effective in these movies because the story is told in a fairy tale like manner that adds to the fanaticism of the story. It makes these movies more magical and takes us back to younger years where our parents would read to us.

Concept 55 #3

3. The motivating force in our film is the fact that Albert has lost his wife to death and he goes on this journey back to a later time when his wife was alive. The force isn't really specified in this story like the movie Groundhog Day where the characters unending revisitation of the same day is never revealed.

Concept 54 #3

3. In the film I am going to write the biggest surprise to the plot will be how Albert makes it out of this surreal world he is in. The whole time the readers is anticipating what will happen to Albert and it leads to the climax of the plot that will definitely surprise some readers.

Thursday, January 26, 2012

Concept 53 #1-3

1. Mean Girls- Because we know what each character is thinking and what they are doing behind each other back. The characters are very sneaky and since they lie to each other they are all confused on what is going on where as we the audience know what is happening.

ScoobyDoo- They separate into groups and one group finds more clues while the other group gets lost. We know what is happening in both of the groups but they don't know anything because they are separated.

Taken- As the main characters daughter gets kidnapped we know what happened to her and where she is where as her father is trying to find clues to what happened. Also the daughter doesn't know that her father is looking for her and we are following the clues with the father.

2. I would have a big secret like your best friend is going to have a baby and I was sworn not to tell anyone but I really want to tell my best friend. I would tell her "have you noticed your friend and her boy friend lately they seem joined at the bone". As she asks why I wold say that I would suggest that is was nothing in a suspicious way. Final I would say "wow she really has gotten big I wonder if she is OK". I would then suggest that I saw her at the parenthood clinic with her boyfriend looking concerned.

3. In my script the audience would know that Albert is traveling in time while all the other characters don;e know that Albert is actually from the future. This secret is hidden because Albert would sound insane is he said he is from the future and knowing this secret about Albert connects us to him as a character in a deeper level.

Concept 52 #3

3. I think that our story would be understood if it didn't have any sound because it has a lot action and I would think that the different emotions portrayed in the scenes would give away the stories plot and story. It would take a while to understand because it is not a complete action story but I think it has enough action to tell a story with out sound.

Monday, January 23, 2012

Concept 51 #2

I would adapt the superhero name Mrs. Universe because I would have the power to control anything in the universe whether its nature, or any of the planets. I can make the waters move the stars align or give colors to all the different stars and planets. I can do it all therefore my name is Mrs. Universe.

Thursday, January 19, 2012

Concept 50 #1

It is necessary to have a detailed script because it helps the story make sense and it helps the director get the picture of the story the way it is meant to be said. If we leave it up to the director to create the detail the detail wouldn't even exist because of all the other things the director has to do. It is not up to the director to create the story that is the writers job and it is a job that needs to be done in detail.

Concept 49 #3

Sam- He is a very flat character but he has a dark background. His parents always fought and he grew up with an alcoholic father. He grew up in a rough neighborhood and he himself grew up to be a drunk. He loves his best friend Albert but refuses to listen to him when it comes to drinking.
The fact that he grew up as an alcoholic isn't as critical to the plot as him not listening to Albert. The reason Albert feels bad is because he didn't stop his friend from dying.

Albert- He has an anger issue due to his past. He grew up with his father who always yelled at him and didn't take him seriously. He developed at sarcastic very cynical behavior to be recognized and listened. He also grew up in a rough neighborhood that made him a strong character. The fact that he was poor isn't that relevant to the plot but the fact that he is careless and cynical develops him as a leading character. He has to learn how to grow up and take life seriously.

Jenny- She is very calm and hardheaded. She lived with her mom most of her life but ran away because her step father was abusive. She lived in a rough neighborhood with her best friend and she grew to b independent and intolerable to a mans abusive nature. The fact that she is intolerable to Albert's nature drives him to change there fore propelling the story forward. The fact that she is calm is not crucial to the plot.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Concept 48 # 3

In the film we are writing there are four characters.
Albert- Childlike, very stoburn, comical, confused, main character
Jenny- Smart, keeps the characters grounded or sane, hard headed, creates drama
Sam- Flat character not well developed, silly, mystery
Sandra- She is very mysterious, the leader of the plot, she drives the story forward, the reason why everything happens

Concept 47 #1

1. Some movies with really good hooks are -Run Lola, A walk to remember, and The Notebook
These movies started the story line with a bang or with something that draws yous you in. Run Lola Run starts off with an action scene where the main character is running and it automatically draws you into the story making you want to know why she is running. In our movie we plan to use a comical hook that will draw the audience in in humor and laughter.

Rio Bravo Reflection

1. This movie followed the conventions of a western by being placed in an older time setting in southern areas like Texas. It also had typical cowboys and sheriffs also the rich land owners were the bad guys.

2. The call to adventure was when the bad guys started making trouble and killed a man and that is when the sheriff and his friends had to be careful about the trouble makers being in town. There is a slight refusal because the sheriff refused to get any help and slightly doubted whether they could defend themselves against a whole mob of troublemakers.

3. The main characters are John T. Chance and Dude. John T. is very dedicated to his job and is a manly man who refuses to share his feeling with the women. Dude is a former drunk that is always being made fun of for his bad habits but he eventually learns from John T. and transforms as a character. Feathers is the love interest of John T. and she is very forward with her feelings and talks a lot. Stumpy is the silly character in the movie and he adds comedy to the story. They are the stereotypical western Character because one is a manly man and the other is drunk. They have the typical slow old man, Stumpy, and the typical beautiful women, Feathers. Each character has his own personality and great and faulty characteristics.

4. The movie is slow because there are many conversations and dialog that build relationships within the characters. It is a little too slow for me because the conversations can get boring sometimes, but it helped me to relate to the characters and care about them.

5. The action sequence doesn't come in till the end of the movie but I think that it was thrilling and exciting. It was too easy of a win for me but the action was definitely well played and executed. There was little action and more story based which is unique fora western.

Concept 45 #1

1. Princess Protection Program
2. 17 Again
3. Twilight

Concept 44 #2

My favorite good guy sidekick in a movie is Chris Tucker played as James Carter because he is funny and very entertaining. He serves the role of the comic and the light hearted friend that you can always rely on.

Concept 43 #1

I didn't like My yearbook teacher at first because she gave me a C in her class but I realize that she is just doing her job. She is a very dedicated and honest teacher and she gave me the grade that I deserve no matter I much I hated it. I am a dedicated person too and that is why I got angry when I got that grade, but I now know that she was just doing her job.

Concept 42 #1

c One movie in which the character changes perspectives at the end in Mean Girls. At first the main character was very shy and timid then she began caring only about her self and her desires at the end she realized that she has to be true to herself and she became nice again. The even that totally transformed her view was when she realized that she was just like the mean girls and she had hurt her friends through her previous actions.

His current girlfriend Becky despises Alex his old girl friend. Peter gets a response from Alex describing how much she loves going dancing and how this will make up for him cheating on her with Becky. Peter has been feeling guilty about his cheating days so he is tempted to go with Alex to satisfy his guilty conscious. On the other hand he knows that this will upset Becky and might even destroy their relationship.
